Sofia is an applied microeconomist with research interests in development, labor, health and international economics. She received a PhD in Economics from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2020.

Her work investigates individual- and firm-level responses to trade and local labor market shocks using applied econometric methods. Her research aims to address questions that are policy-relevant and shed light on the relationship between trade liberalization, employment, health and family structure, both in developed and developing countries.
